today
Today, we wrote out our "4 year get internet famous plan."
Mine involved blogging, making money, adding pictures, posting videos, and getting famous.
We also had to talk individually with the teacher.
He also gave us a review sheet to study off of online.
The review sheet talked about how to get internet famous and different way to get internet famous.

Test Taking Tips
I went to the muse workshop test taking tips. Some of the tips they said include: review before the test, review daily, study checklists, make flash cards, take practice test, arrive early to tests, eat before the test, think positively, look over the test before taking it, read or listen closely to directions, jot down formulas on the side, budget time, answer the easiest and fastest first, the answer to questions might be on other questions, answer the multiple choice first, read the question completely, wire legibly, write on one side of the page, double space, and many other tricks or tips. At the end of the workshop, they passed out a paper that was supposed to be a "contract to study."

Today, Wednesday..
Today, it was very cold outside. We all came to class and were told to attempt our four, five, six, or more year plan. I wasn't prepared for this, so i only got to finish my plan up to the 2nd year's fall semester. The professor called people up one by one to tell them their grades and to talk with them individually.
Monday
Last monday, we had a new peer mentor. Her name was Kathrine. She is not as into the class as Anna was, but its almost the end already anyways. Hopesfully she can help us all in class more. The professor said that she was the "best" peer mentor, so we will see...

Campus Event
I went to the dance at the DC a while ago and never wrote about it. It was not really a dance because no one danced, but there was sand bottle making and music. There was also a lot of food. It was more of a stand around and talk type of event. There was also different types of snacks set around for people to eat as they talked.
Peer Mentor/Senior Interview
I was part of the Peer Mentor side, so most of my questions were for the peer mentor. I thought that the interview was interesting because not only did we learn about the peer mentor and senior, we also learned how to use audacity. I had already knew how to use audacity, but it was still interesting because I had never used it to record audio. The editing of the "ums" were very funny because we joked about how we could just make a sound track of only "ums".

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 12
Chapter 12 is called explore careers. It is about exploring careers. It first says to evaluate yourself. Then you have to find out what you value most which will help you narrow your choices. Afterward, you figure out what your skills are in,and then lastly you figure out your personality. Next, it talks about how to gain experience, through things like internships, co-ops, part time jobs, summer jobs, and community service. It goes over having multiple careers, and networking. It talks about how to move up your career, and life. Finally it talks about resumes, cover letters, and interviews. Recently, in EDCO, I had just learned about this stuff and wrote my own resume and had our own interview practice. I thought that if i had known that this book had stuff about it and i had saw it earlier, it would have helped me more. Since I had already known about most of the things, it was not all that helpful. Although some of the stuff in this chapter about resumes could help improve my current resume because when I first wrote it, I did not know exactly what to write about.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 11
Chapter 11 is called Be a Great Money Manager. It talks about how to manage your money in college, banking, and credit. I thought some of the information would be useful for people who don't know how to manage their money. Personally, I can manage my money most of the time. There were some things in the chapter that I did not know about, like the things about banking and credit.

Mixed! One Women Show
We sat outside waiting for the muse workshop mixed one women show to begin. We waited for 22 minutes. The first thing we learned was how to move our index fingers in opposite directions. Afterward we played a thumb and palm game. Last game we played is a clapping game. I thought the show was funny, interesting, and deep. The little shows all had its own unique story line and its own unique thoughts. The wait was worth it.

Video Project
One important thing about our video project that we had a lot of trouble with is that it was very hard to meet up. Everybody had different schedules that conflicted with each other. If one of us had a free time at a certain time, others would be busy with class or work. Even the first 2 times we tried to meet up, not everyone showed up, and it was hectic. Eventually, we got everyone to meet up and did it all on one day. I thought it was fun, and there is not much I would have done differently because I thought that, in the end, it turned out pretty well. I did most of the recording when I was not in the movie, and then it was either Allister or someone else when i was in it. As the Director/cameraman, the movie did not go exactly as I had in mind, especially the ending and certain parts, but as unexpected as it turned out, it was funny/interesting/entertaining.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 10
Your Guide to College Success, chapter 10 is called Take Charge of Your Physical and Mental Health. When I began to read the chapter, I came across the second page in the chapter, and it talked about lifestyle patterns linked with poor health in college students, and a few of those listed applied to me. The ones listed that applied to me include, skipping breakfast or regular meals, relying on snacks as a main food source, overeating, and not getting enough sleep. I did not know that exercising regularly could help generate new brain cells. when I read that, I was surprised. When it said most people need at least eight hours of sleep, I immediately thought that I do not usually get that much sleep, and that I usually end up with around six hours.

Sleep
Last night, I went to bed around 4 am and woke up at 9. Sleeping that late is really tiring for me. I only stayed up that late because I had to finish my midterm for muse and i had to finish my reading for english class. Today in muse, we talked about google adsense, which I already use. We are planning on finishing our video later today, and hopefully we can actually finish it this time. In english class, we continued to work on our epiphany essay writing workshops. For some unknown reason, it takes the whole class time to talk about 5 essays. I've always wondered why it took so long. Our final draft for our essays are due next week, and i have not started my revisions yet. Maybe I should have started them earlier, but i keep getting distracted, forgetting about it, or procrastinating it. One thing that i would like to get around to working on is the banner for this website. I would also like to make some other changes in this website, in terms of making it more visually pleasing.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 8
In Your Guide to College Success, the 8th chapter, it talks about succeeding on tests. It starts off talking about long term and short term planning. In long term planning, it says to pace yourself, find your style of studying, stay healthy, and focusing on the right things instead of seeing the instructor as a evil person. In short term planning, it says to know what to expect of the test, figuring out what is going to be on the test, not skip the day before the test, finding your learning style, and to protect your studying time. It moves on to talk about how to be smart about cramming if you need to, and to prepare for the test. It talks about how to master each type of test, and how to go about answering different types of questions from the test. Finally, it talks about grades, and the little things about other things.

Campus Movie Fest
Rendell, Sophia, Cameron, and I went to the campus movie fest. At the movie fest, we saw Joel, Patrick, Myneisha, Kimberly, Jackson, and some others from our class. When we arrived, the line was very long. The guy gave us tickets and we slowly moved into the auditorium. On our way in, we picked up an orange flashlight, random papers, and a ticket for a random drawing. Sadly none of us won anything or got a shirt, but the short movies played were all very interesting. The one that I thought was the most interesting/funny was the one about a killer who made sandwiches and the girls. It was a good experience to go see the movies, and my friends and I thought about making a movie for next year...

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 7
This chapter is called Enhance Your Study Skills and Memory. One main thing that interested me a lot in this chapter was when it talked about memory. I was interested in the memory part because it talked a lot about how someone can improve their long term and short term memory. It gave a basic outline about memory, long and short, and then it talked about how to improve both, and how to use both to its potential. The memory enhancing techniques or strategies sound very useful, and I may be able to use some of them very soon, and some of them, I already use without knowing what it's called until now.

Driving
One thing that i tend to avoid while driving is: traffic. Yes, traffic. It is one of those things in the world that cant be changed. You may try to rid the world of traffic, but it will not happen anytime soon. So, i tend to avoid it instead of sitting in it. When i sit in traffic, it makes me so angry. Just the thought of someone driving badly that caused this makes me very upset. So, i try to avoid it. When i cannot avoid it, i try to pick the best time, when it is not a lot of traffic. Traffic can be easily caused by many things. It may not even be a reason for it. All you need, is 1 person driving slower, or doing something that is not with everyone else. Please stop making so much traffic, and try to drive off to the side or something if you have to.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 5
Expand Your Thinking Skills: Chapter 5. It starts off talking about thinking critically, asking questions, and offering criticism. It talks about the internet, and how to find the most useful and accurate information. The chapter talks more about reasons, and how to solve/ come about reason. Problem solving also comes into this chapter, like finding solutions, mindfulness, and characteristics. It goes on to talk about decision making and creative thinking. Near the end of the chapter, the book talks about how to lead more creative lives. I thought it was really interesting because it tells us how to be more creative and move away from a plain or boring life.
Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 4
Chapter 4, called Diversify Your Learning Style, talks about people's strengths and weaknesses and how everyone has their own unique strengths. There are different types of learning. It talks about the MBTI which i have taken before. When i took the MBTI I got INFP. It was strange to read about it somewhere else because i learned about it in EDCO already. The book also talks about how to create a good relationship with your teachers. Personally, I did not do everything correct according to the book. Especially the first impression.
peer mentor
The peer mentor in our class is very useful. When I have questions or have anything I want to talk casually to about, they are the person that I feel like i can go to. The professor sometimes seems a little too intimidating. The peer mentor is also helpful because she is in the same situation as us, like when we are confused, she can help us, and help guide us. Especially like last class time, when the professor was not around, and she help lead the class. Although I haven't personally talked with her outside of class or gotten help from her outside of class, she already seems really helpful in our class.

class
This blog is like a blog that is a record of the small portion of my life. In class, our telephone game of a cop turned into a gangster. I tend to like to write my blog during class time because it helps me think and it helps me stay on topic. The teacher wasn't in class today, and we still had class time.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 9
Chapter 9 in Your Guilde to College Success was called Express Yourself. Being able to express yourself is important, and even in jobs where you don't think you need to be able to perform good public speaking. Writing is also important, if you cannot write well, you cannot express your ideas. In the book, there are many things it suggests to do to create a better paper. It also talks about writer's block and how to overcome it, and it also talks about plagiarism. It gives tips and tricks on how to avoid plagiarism and how to properly cite your sources so that you don't have a problem with plagiarism. Finally, it talks about public speaking. It talks about techniques and other ways to improve your public speaking skills.
Class
During class, we had a excersize where we were in groups of 4-5 people and we would talk about plagarism and public speaking. After talking about internet and technology, we started getting off topic and started talking about illegal downloads at the school. It was an interesting thing to talk about because it is something that many many people do online.

Tired
After driving back from LA, I had to finish my essay for English class. It took more time than I expected, and so i slept late. When I woke up on Monday, it was already 10 A.M. and class was starting in 30 minutes. I quickly showered and ran to class. The whole time during class, I was really tired and it was hard for me to concentrate on what the teacher was talking about. After all my classes for the day, I went back to the dorm and took a short 2 hour nap. I will try to sleep earlier from now on!

class
In class, we talked about the scavenger hunt. We then split into groups of 4 to talk about assertiveness, and we were given 2 situations, the first situation was that you think a professor does not like you. The second situation was that your girlfriend has body odor. In our little groups, we talked about how we would handle the situation. Then we talked about the homework, the internet, and some other stuff. The last 15 minutes was spent playing and ice breaker called "I Love My Neighbor" this ice breaker is played by having a group of people stand in a circle( or sit) and then one person is in the middle, who says "i love my neighbor who...(and they insert something they have/do/or anythign about them). The people in the circle who the sentance applies to have to move away from their spot to another spot in the circle, and whoever does not have a spot is in the middle and must continue the process. For example, the person in the middle says "I love my neighbor who wears black" then everyone wearing the color black has to move.

Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 3
In the third chapter, the book talks about time management, a skill in which i still have to learn how to do. When it talked about time wasters, i had a few seconds of connection as i checked my phone for text messages. The Swiss-cheese method and the set time method are both methods that help some people, but personally, i do not like to set a time for myself to do things, and instead i like to do things when i have nothing else to do. This may also contribute to my ever increasing procrastination skills. Reading or writing about procrastination is a lot easier then actually following through with what you read or wrote.
Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 2
Chapter two of the book talks about communication. I think that communication is important to everyone's lives, and that without noticing it, we tend to develop bad habits in our communication skills. This chapter not only addresses these problems that we have in communicating, it also tells us what we should do instead of our bad habits, and how to deal with other people. I think that there is a lot of important information in this chapter, because communication is important to everyone, if people could not communicate, this world would be a disaster, and so the things talked about in this chapter is important. Of course we don't just develop these skills overnight, unless you are some kind of prodigy or something else, so we have to keep practicing these skills until it becomes second nature.
Your Guide to College Success: Chapter 1
The first chapter talks about college, and things that will help you on your way to graduating. It also talks about majors, and the use of the internet and other resources like social networks. I think that I use facebook too much, and sometimes i use it unwisely. When it talked about what people shouldn't do on it, i seem to have achieved almost all the problems at least at one point in time.

The mime and the mirror
During class, we did an activity where one person was a mime and the other was the mirror. My partner was Joel. When we started, Joel was the mime first and he was a little confused and did not really know what he was doing. When it was my turn, my plan was to confuse him a little bit. I turned around and did some confusing hand movements to confuse him. I thought that this activity helped me get to know Joel better. It helps people concentrate more on a person's body movements. It also creates a chance to pay more attention to what someone is thinking by looking at their body language. I thought it was a fun activity with a lot of chances to do whatever another person is thinking.

The Library
Today in class, we went to the library. The library is very big, it has eight floors and an underground basement floor. The teacher was not in class today because he was injured, but a person from the library came to talk with us instead. In class, he talked about library cards, the library, the library website, databases, and other library services. After the librarian stopped talking about the library, we talked about the blackboard and the greensheet. We ended class a little bit earlier and then we were allowed to walk around the library and to get a library card.

Class
Today in class, we talked about setting up a blog, and the professor even helped a girl set up her blog in class. Next Monday is labor day, so we don't have class, which i think is good. So, the next class time we meet is going to be next Wednesday, which is a week, and we are going to the Library on that day.
Small Groups
I thought that the small group thing we did in our Muse class was very helpful in getting to know people in my class more. The small groups help us have some time to talk with people, and to get to know them further. I thought the idea of it and the idea to have us talk about our weekend was a good idea. Weather it was planned specifically for that reason or not is not important because either way, it was successful.

First Week
My first week in college, i would see a lot of unfamiliar faces everywhere i would go. There aren't always a lot of chances to make friends with people, either because most people have somewhere to go or something to do, or there is nothing to trigger a conversation with them.
First Few Days
The first few days of college, whenever I walk into a class, i try to sit on the side or near the back. These seats seem to be the ones that is most desirable since there is not such thing as a seating chart in college. These seats are the ones that everyone aims to get even though they know that it does not actually make a difference where they sit. These seats give people the feeling that they will be less noticeable or less bothered in class because of the distance or the angle of their seat to the professor.
